All are welcome to join members of the Frankford First Christian Church for this meaningful World Day of Prayer dinner and worship service. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall and the service begins at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
1. What is World Day of Prayer?
Imagine over 1.5 million Christians speaking 90 different languages in 150 different countries coming together in spirit; uniting to pray for relevant issues affecting people around the world.
That's what happens each World Day of Prayer, an ecumenical movement that has been happening for nearly 100 years.
2. Is World Day of Prayer just for members of the Disciples of Christ denomination?
No, this worship service is held in churches of all denominations around the world. The Frankford First Christian Church just happens to be the host of the World Day of Prayer Service in the Frankford area.
3. How long will the service last?
We anticipate the service lasting between 45 minutes to 1 hour.
4. I've never been to a World Day of Prayer Service. What can I expect?
That's a great question! The World Day of Prayer service will include a liturgy reading, a pastoral prayer, congregational singing, a brief message about the need for prayers for this year's selected country of Nigeria and the observance of communion. As a church, we invite all who are believers in Jesus Christ to participate in communion, but understand that different church denominations have differing communion traditions.
5. I see this year's service is focused on Nigeria. Why is that?
Each year, the World Day of Prayer Planning Committee meets and selects the country that they ask all participating congregations around the world to pray for during their World Day of Prayer Service. This year's selected country is Nigeria. Past selected countries include the Cook Islands (2025), Palestine (2024), Taiwan (2023), England (2022), the island of Vanuatu (2021), Zimbabwe (2020), Slovenia (2019), just to name a few.
6. I've never been to the Frankford First Christian Church. What do I do once I get there?
Another great question! The church is located at 111 North Main Cross in Frankford. The church has both on-street and off-street parking available. There is also a parking lot behind the church. The main entrance to the sanctuary is located at the southwest corner of the church (next to the church sign).
7. Do I need to bring food or anything else for the carry-in dinner?
We welcome any additional contributions such as side salads or desserts for the carry-in dinner.
