Equinox Kick-off Hike

We’ll kick things off with an in-person Equinox Hike on March 21, 2026, near our headquarters in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. All are welcome!

Route: Lonesome Lake to Cannon Mountain (out and back)

Option A: Lonesome Lake
A 3-mile round-trip hike with ~1,000 ft of elevation gain. Enjoy lakeside views and a stop at the Lonesome Lake AMC Hut.

Option B: Cannon Mountain Add-On
A 6-mile round-trip hike. After reaching the lake, experienced hikers may continue to summit Cannon Mountain via Hi-Cannon Trail and Kinsman Ridge Trail, adding ~1,300 ft of elevation gain. The summit offers expansive views on clear days.

Although it will be officially spring, the White Mountains will still exhibit winter conditions. March hiking in the White Mountains often includes snow, ice, and sub-zero wind chills. Please pack appropriate winter gear.

This is an unguided hike. Participants choosing the Cannon summit option must have prior winter hiking experience on NH 4,000-footers and be prepared to hike independently if needed.

Meet-Up Time:
Please arrive early to gear up. We depart promptly at 9:00 AM. If you arrive at 9:00 AM, you will miss the group.

Transportation:
There is no public transportation nearby. If you need help arranging a ride, please reach out — we’re happy to help connect folks.

Accommodations:
The most affordable nearby lodging is the Notch Hostel, which also serves as our headquarters. Rooms and bunks can be reserved online. Promo codes for BIPOC are available.

We recognize that not all bodies can participate in this specific hike. While this particular event includes a NH 4,000-footer, the Hike-A-Thon defines “hiking” broadly. Participants may log miles by walking or rolling on city streets, bike paths, nature preserves, or accessible outdoor paths — with mobility aids as needed.
