Shadow Journaling by definition is.........A psychological process focused on bringing the unconscious, rejected or repressed aspects of the self into conscious awareness, and integrating them for personal growth and better sense of wholeness. 


Shadow journaling has become a sort of hip, pop culture term that's been strewn all over social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, but the basis of this concept has been around for much much longer. Carl Jung actually started to discuss the concept in the 1930's. Stating "I took it upon myself to get to know my myth. I regard this as the task of all tasks." Through this class I hope to offer some enlightenment on how myth & folklore can offer us a sense of guidance on our journey of self. Unlocking new levels of self awareness. Because whether we realize it or not, oftentimes we play out the role from mythology & folklore in our own lives. We're embarking on this journey as a way of gaining insight to our own psyche. 


Where you've found yourself here today it's likely because you understand that you need or are finally able to look at some of the deeper aspects of who you are. Intuitively knowing you need to uncover some layers. Shrek would say like onions have layers, which is agreeable, but I like his trusty friend Donkey, have a sweet tooth, so I'm going to say like the layers of a parfait. 


The reasons I chose Baba Yaga as the focus for this class are many, but for starters with all the chaos going on for us as a nation, I thought her origins eing in Russia and the Ukraine were fitting. We're all coming to a sort of crossroads in our lives. Trying to decide which way to go as we're learning & developing every day. We know we can't take the road back. The past is in the past, we can't change that or take that road. The road ahead certainly feels unsure, even scary at times. So we're desperately  searching for a pivot or side road. Leaving us stuck at a crossroads. Which oddly enough is often where clients find me. It's often where our deepest fears, and hidden wounds get illuminated.
