Born into a family deeply rooted in music, his mother, Mary Ann Hooker, and father, the Legendary Blues/Soul recording artist Johnnie Taylor, instilled the rich tradition of church singing in him from an early age.At the age of ten, TJ, alongside his family, formed The Young Golden Voices, captivating audiences in churches throughout the Kansas City area. At 16, TJ founded the R&B sensation, The Grand Jury Band. The band swiftly rose to prominence as the #1 funk ensemble in the city, securing awards and sharing stages with renowned acts such as The Bar-Kays, Cameo, and Slave.As TJ reached the age of 21, the unmistakable 'Taylor Sound' began to manifest in his voice.
