Beginning her throwing career in 1997 while in junior high school, Michelle is a three-time Olympian as well as a World Championship gold medalist. She has excelled at the national and international level for 15+ years. In 2008 she followed in the footsteps of her father by making her first Olympic Team. Michelle completed an epic double in 2013, capturing gold at the USA Indoor and USA Outdoor Championships as well as setting her first American record. In 2015, she won her sixth USATF Outdoor Championship en route to winning the bronze medal at IAAF World Championships in Beijing. Michelle won gold at the 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland, but her crowning achievement was at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro when Michelle succeeded at winning the gold medal and setting the American record at the event.
