Lessons & Carols

Lessons and Carols is one of Fort Worth Presbyterian's most beautiful events. Sunday, December 14, at 6:00 p.m., the story of Jesus will be told through scripture and song. Both young and old participate in the readings from the Old and New Testaments, and a choir will lead us in carols and perform special music. We will fellowship together with cookies after the service. Come and celebrate with us!

The service of Lessons and Carols originated in 1880 in the cathedral city of Truro in Cornwall, England and was brought to King's College Chapel, Cambridge in 1918. It became a yearly Christmas Eve practice there to read through these nine lessons from scripture beginning with the Genesis account of God's curse and concluding with John 1 unfolding the mystery of the incarnation. Each lesson is followed by one or two carols sung by the choir and/or congregation.
