We made it through another presidential election cycle in 2024, and in spite of numerous groups promoting elections, candidates, and providing voters with information, Allen County had the fourth-lowest county turnout of registered voters in the state. With a 58% voter turnout, Allen County was below the state average of 61% and below the national average of 63.9% for 2024. How did this happen? And how can we do better? 

Please join the League of Women Voters Fort Wayne and local community leaders from prominent affiliate groups and nonprofits for our annual Voter Empowerment Summit, where we feature an ongoing, nonpartisan discussion to help enhance voter education and engagement at a local level. 

This year's summit will focus on “Connecting the Dots.” In breakout sessions we will consider:

--What are the key issues people in our community care about? 
--How does local government affect these issues? (specific examples at the city/county/state level) 
--How does your vote make a difference in the things you care about the most?
--Do you have a specific example of how local or state government has made a difference to you? Please share it!

The goal is to collectively discuss how to create more connection between the issues people care about and the ability to make real change. We will also brainstorm tools and opportunities to enhance our collective efforts. 

Come prepared to roll up your sleeves as we break into groups and tackle one of the most important issues of our time. This meeting is open to any and all to attend. You do not need to be a LWV member or identify as a woman. We want to hear your voice!
