"description": "14 years ago, Amanda was diagnosed with Bipolar 1. She has learned to take each day moment by moment and not day by day.Amanda’s family has been heavily affected by mental illness, especially Bipolar. Once she started to learn about her own Bipolar diagnosis, she has always thought, “I wonder if this information would have saved my grandpa’s life?”Her passion for mental health and Bipolar advocacy is what led her to create Monarch Mental Health & the Bipolar Community.“I found a quote at one point in my life that simply stated, “Know Science, No Stigma.” That has always stayed with me. The more we can learn and talk about how this illness affects us personally, our tribe and those around us, the closer we get to breaking the stigma surrounding Bipolar.Amanda’s support tribe is what has kept her going. “I know what it feels like when I am at my lowest, in that dark state of mind and I can’t imagine what that feels like to go through that alone. I never want anyone to feel as if they are alone, I want them to know that they are always welcome to be apart of my tribe”."
