This June, Fort St. John comes alive with color, creativity, and community at the Bright Nights in June Festival—a 3 day celebration of local arts, culture, and talent you won’t want to miss!
On June 12th, join us at the North Peace Cultural Centre for Art Stars. This is an evening of discussions with local artists, providing insights into their creative journeys and contributions to the arts community. Art Stars stands out as an opportunity for the community to engage directly with local artists and celebrate their work.
At the North Peace Cultural Centre on June 13th the stage will be graced with the unmistakable sounds of George Canyon. George rose to becoming one of Canada’s hottest Country Music stars in the early 2000’s and has won countless accolades and awards, including Juno Awards, CCMA Awards, and ECMA Awards to name a few. He has been inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame, recorded 12 albums, and was presented a certified Platinum Award for his debut album ‘One Good Friend’. With country iconic hits like Just Like You, I Believe in Angels, Drinkin’ Thinkin’, Daughters of the Sun, I Got This, I Want You To Live, Slow Dance and many, many more, he is also a highly regarded humanitarian, strong supporter of the military, and, most important, a proud father and devoted husband. Bright Nights in June – Art Market is not just a market to find amazing handmade items from local artisans; it also includes live music, various workshops, exhibitions, and interactive events designed to engage the community and promote participation in the arts.
Bright Nights in June – Big Print Day is a unique event where local artists create large-scale prints using a steamroller as a printing press. This collaborative project highlights the creativity and innovation of the Fort St. John arts community.
