- **Event Description**: Fort Benning MWR and the Qualified Recycling Program present Oktoberfest! Fort Benning's favorite fall tradition and the most authentic Oktoberfest in the area returns to Uchee Creek Campground & Marina from Friday, October 17 through Sunday, October 19!  Fort Benning's annual Oktoberfest is a three-day event that features endless family-friendly fun, free live entertainment, children’s activities and the best variety of authentic German food, music and brews.  

? Put on your finest dirndl or lederhosen, pack up the family and enjoy our FESTZELT (fest tent) sponsored by the Russell County Commission! Live entertainment all weekend long includes Sonnenschein Express, the polkastar himself, Johnny Koenig, and the MCoE Band. We suggest practicing your best chicken dance! 

? Our KINDER WIESN (children’s area) sponsored by Headquarter Nissan will provide fun activities all weekend long, including inflatables, drum circles, pumpkin patch, quad jump, games, arts and crafts, carnival rides and more! 

? Don’t worry about missing your favorite teams play because we will turn the Uchee Creek Activity Center into a real German SPORTHEIM (sports club). While you eat your bratwurst and enjoy a cold German beer, watch college football and NFL games on six large TVs all weekend long!

? Like in Munich, the keg tapping ceremony officially kicks off Oktoberfest on Friday at 6 p.m. EDT. While the MCoE Band plays the national anthems of both the United States of America and Germany, the keg is tapped! Once you hear “O’Zapft is” (it’s tapped), the festivities begin! 

?? On Saturday, the day begins with our annual Dirndl Dash 5K and Lederhosen Leap 10K races, as well as our famous Volksmarch. Dog contests will be held in the afternoon along with adult games like keg tossing, corn hole, and beer pong. The evening will feature several competitions like Best Kinder Dirndl and Best Kinder Lederhosen, Stein Hoisting and Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest in the Festzelt.

⛪️ On Sunday, we host the annual nondenominational Crossroads church service at 11 a.m. EDT in the Festzelt. 


Admission and parking are free. Food, beverages, and souvenirs are available for purchase with cash or debit/credit cards. Event vendors will also accept MWR tokens from previous events.  

❗️ Please Note: Tokens will not be sold at this event. If you still have tokens, you may use them with vendors or return them to MWR for a refund. No outside food and beverages are permitted at this event.

Oktoberfest is open to the public - no visitor's pass is required if entering via Alabama Highway 165. A shuttle service to and from Fort Benning is available for DoD ID Cardholders on Saturday, October 18.
