Fort Lauderdale’s waterways are among our community’s greatest assets—but they are also among the most vulnerable. From residential lawns and stormwater runoff to boat docks and canal systems, everyday choices directly affect marine life and the vegetation that sustains it.

At our February 19 Fort Lauderdale Forum, three expert speakers will come together for an engaging panel discussion on how we can better protect marine ecosystems in our local canals, rivers, and waterways, while continuing to enjoy waterfront living responsibly.

Understanding the species that depend on our waterways and the threats they face—from water quality degradation to habitat loss.

The role of seagrass, mangroves, and shoreline vegetation in supporting marine life, stabilizing banks, and improving water clarity.

How fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation practices affect canals and rivers—and what homeowners can do to reduce harm.
• Dock & Boating Best Practices
Environmentally responsible approaches to dock construction, maintenance, lighting, and boating activity that protect aquatic ecosystems.
