They have played a significant role in the affirmation of Black identity and humanity, and in community-building efforts that sustain and nurture diasporic Africans and others beyond the community who align with their principles. These religious traditions have also demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and innovation, continuously renewing ancestral practices to meet contemporary challenges.The 15th convening of KOSANBA seeks to critically examine how Africana religious traditions contribute to activism and social change, as well as how these practices serve as sites of spiritual rejuvenation in the face of ongoing oppression. We invite proposals that explore the role of Africana religions in resistance movements, healing practices, and the reclamation of sacred space and identity within the African Diaspora. We encourage participants to explore the intersections of Africana religious traditions with ongoing struggles against Afrophobia, anti-Blackness, religious racism, and systemic violence.We invite proposals for panels, roundtables, and performances that explore the role of Africana religions in resistance movements, healing practices, and the reclamation of sacred space and identity within the African Diaspora. Ultimately, we aim to examine the long-standing movements of resistance and rejuvenation that these spiritual practices continue to inspire across the African Diaspora.
