This workshop invites participants into a shared inquiry and embodied conversation about portraiture, presence, and the power of archival creation through photography.Led by drawing from traditions of studio portraiture and contemporary practices of self-documentation, the session explores the subtle exchange between photographer and sitter: the pause before the shutter, the awareness of the body, the decision of how to arrive in the frame. Participants will reflect on photography as an act of remembering ourselves forward—creating images and archives that hold complexity, agency, and self-knowledge rather than extraction or spectacle.
