Equal parts history book and love letter to this community, Broward Chronicles is a testament to what it means to sing America from right where you stand.Emmanuel will discuss his journey from student activist to filmmaker to the youngest person in Broward County to hold his own special collections archive at AARLCC — the Emmanuel George Collection — as well as his ongoing work with the Black Orchid Foundation, preserving the stories of historically Black high schools across the South.About Emmanuel GeorgeEmmanuel George is a Dominican-American archivist, filmmaker, and arts organizer based in Hollywood, Florida. His work began with the Black Broward Film Project and includes landmark films such as A Tale of Sibling Communities: Danie and Liberia (2016) and Stories from Our Ancestors: An Ode to Attucks High School (2021). He has held fellowships with Lake Wales Museum, FIU's Wolfson Public Humanities Lab, the Delray Beach Historical Society, and Temple University, where he served as Community Archivist for the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH).
