- **Event Description**: Always wanted to try your hand at sculpting with clay, or interested in learning how to create a new form, or have you made pieces in our workshop and they need to be glazed? 

Open Studio - Pottery is the perfect time for you to start on that clay project you've been thinking about, or to keep working on an ongoing project, or glaze a piece that you've made in one of our workshops! Kelley Hillier will be on site to help you locate tools and supplies, and answer questions you might have about materials and techniques. 

Open Studios are drop-in, registration is not required. Participants must be at least 14 years of age. 

Pieces made during Open Studio - Pottery will be fired in our Skutt KM1227 kiln. The stoneware clay we have on hand is Cone 6; you will also have access to our house glazes after your pieces have been bisque fired. 

Open Studio - Pottery is free for Clay Club and Premium Clay Club members, and for students who are taking a workshop or short course that includes Open Studio visits (each program will specify those details). For non-member visitors, Open Studio costs $15. 

Clay costs $1.50/lb for Clay Club and Premium Clay Club members, and $2.50/lb for non-members. We currently stock Laguna 65 and 66 mid-fire clays. We accept cash, check, and all major cards.

Any unused clay must go home with you, or bring a sealed storage container with your name on it if you plan to work with your leftover clay at a future Open Studio. Your Open Studio fee includes both bisque and glaze firings. 

Please note there is a minimum one week wait time for pieces to be bisque fired (they need to dry thoroughly); then, once you have glazed them, there is an additional 1+ week wait for us to have your finished piece ready for you to pick up. Pottery is all about the wait!
