Archaeology Camp at Fort Gratiot Light Station
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an archaeologist? Do you want to become one when you grow up? This is your chance to apply for a once in a lifetime experience!
Six applicants will be selected to for an archaeology camp at the Fort Gratiot Light Station, held in partnerships with Central Michigan University. In the mornings campers will learn about archaeology through presentations and activities, then in the afternoon they will experience first hand what its like to be an archaeologist while working in the field at the Light Station with Central Michigan University students.
Dates: June 18-20, 2019
Times: 8:00AM - 4:00PM
Location: Fort Gratiot Light Station
Cost: $150 per camper
Camp fee includes all programs and supplies, archaeology camp t-shirt, a bag to keep their supplies in, snacks, and lunches. We ask that campers bring their own spray on sunscreen to keep in their bag during camp.
Requirements and How to Apply:
Must be entering 7th or 8th grade in the fall 2019
Application must be accompanied by reference letter from one of your current or former teachers and a short essay of why you would like to be selected for the archaeology camp.
