At its best in August, the Italian Garden comes alive with a vibrant sea of Verbena bonariensis, creating one of the estate's most breathtaking summer displays. Surrounded by elegant stone gazebos, ornamental gates, manicured yew hedges, pleached beech bowers and a charming stone fountain, it's the perfect setting to savour a delicious afternoon tea of freshly prepared savouries, sweet treats and, of course, tea.
Steeped in royal history, the Italian Garden was lovingly laid out in 1910 by Countess Cecilia, wife of the 14th Earl and mother of HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. A favourite place for the family to relax and enjoy the outdoors, the garden remains one of Glamis Castle's most enchanting spaces.
