Description:
Still Here is a rotating workshop series designed to support those living with the impact of suicide loss. The purpose of this series is to provide a steady space for understanding, reflection, and connection. Each session offers guidance and practical tools to help participants make sense of their experience while building the capacity to navigate difficult thoughts, emotions, and moments over time. There is no required sequence, and participants may attend at any point. The focus is not on finding answers or moving forward, but on creating space to understand, to connect, and to be supported in the process.


Month 3: Guilt and the What-Ifs
This session focuses on survivor guilt and the tendency to revisit personal actions, decisions, and missed opportunities after a suicide loss. Many individuals replay conversations, question their responses, or wonder if they should have recognized signs that now seem clearer in hindsight. Over time, this can lead to responsibility distortion, where the mind places unrealistic levels of responsibility on oneself for the outcome.

This workshop explores how guilt and hindsight bias can shape the way survivors interpret the past, often creating the belief that the loss should have been prevented. Through conversation, reflection, and practical skill building, participants are encouraged to develop a more balanced and compassionate understanding of their experience while learning ways to respond to self-blame and “what if” thinking with greater awareness and care.
