- **Event Description**: Let's bundle up and come together to welcome Winter with a lantern walk & roll through Forest Grove on the Winter Solstice! Folks are welcome to join in at any point along the way. Carolers of any spiritual or philosophical tradition are also welcome, if folks would like to sing together as we walk. Bring song sheets to share if you would like to lead a song with others.

A little while before 4 pm we will gather at the corner of Pacific & Main in downtown Forest Grove for local refreshments such as hot cocoa at Guidetti's or champurrado or hot cocoa at Taquería Corona. Around 4:15, weather and flood levels permitting, we will walk and roll about a mile down to B Street Trail, and meet at the wetland viewpoint along Old Town Loop to watch the sunset around 4:30pm.  There is wheelchair accessible parking at the B Street Trail Parking Lot, and the trail is paved from there. If the area is flooded, we will watch the sunset a little ways down from the Old Town Loop trailhead instead of using the B Street Trail. After sunset, we will proceed back up with our lanterns, and through Old Town to check out the Silva Family holiday lights and other beautiful neighborhood displays. We will loop back past Scottie's Drive-In (another chance for hot chocolate!) and head back to Pacific  & Main. Maybe have dinner downtown afterwards. 

We are excited to share holiday cheer and meet our neighbors who enjoy celebrating this time of year in any way, whether or not you usually observe Solstice, Christmas, Yule, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Festivus, or any other beautiful holiday of winter. We come together in the spirit of neighborly kindness and religious tolerance.

The main walking loop will be about 3.2 miles, but feel free to join in for any part of it. Bundle up, dress for the weather, whatever it may be, wear good walking shoes or bring a bike or mobility device with lights, bring a lantern, and/or wear lights! This is a do-it-yourself open community activity. Participation is completely at your own risk. Carry your own water and first aid kit, and supervise your own children and other vulnerable loved ones as you would on any walk you take together. If you usually have a caregiver, please come with your caregiver. Please no rowdy or loud dogs, and absolutely no dogs off leash. Well-trained, quiet service and support animals are very welcome.
