Dans un bistrot miteux et désert en face d'une gare, Jacques Belin, l'animateur vedette un peu ringard du jeu télévisé "L'Affaire est dans le sac", tombe sur Simone, une pauvre fille paumée qui sort de prison. Elle est naïve, populaire et haute en couleurs ; il se croit splendide, chic et "tendance". Pour noyer leur solitude, ils se lancent malgré dans une folle nuit, rythmée par les élucubrations endiablées du barman, aussi collant que bavard, grand fan de Jacques.
