- **Event Description**: As a popular Victorian port for travel to the Continent, Folkestone harbour needed to adapt to accommodate modern cross-channel ships.  The harbour pier was extended between 1897 and 1905.   This talk looks at the work through rare period photographs.

Tony Hill is a local historian and sits on the committees of the New Folkestone Society and Folkestone & District Local History Society.  In his spare time(!) he is a keen model railway enthusiast and modelmaker, and has written books and given lectures across the country on the topic of model railway construction.

Doors open at 2pm for a 2.30pm start.  Refreshments will be served.  Admission is £5.
