Talk About Town: Leisure Lane & Van Doren Avenue Revitalization
Join us for a discussion with Dr Kobus Appelgrijn and Jake Pieterse from West Pasco Habitat for Humanity. They will talk about the revitalization efforts in the Town and Country Villas area on Leisure Lane and Van Doren Avenue. They'll also discuss the process and requirements for participating families and the overall benefits homeownership can have on individuals and the community .
In January 2018 Habitat for Humanity launched a 5-year project to revitalize the subdivision of New Port Richey. The two streets that make up Town and Country Villas are characterized by dilapidated and condemned mobile homes and vacant lots are used as temporary camps for some of Pasco's homeless population. The area has also required additional resources from county and city services.
Dr Kobus Appelgrijn is the Executive Director at West Pasco Habitat for Humanity and has been in this position for the last 8 years. He is passionate about the homeless and providing decent, affordable housing to those in need.
Jake Pieterse is the Chief Operations Officer at West Pasco Habitat for Humanity and has been with Habitat for two years. He is passionate about people fulfilling their dreams and aspirations and Habitat provides the perfect opportunity to see this happen regularly.
