ABOUT THE SHOW:
The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
AUDITION INFO:
Seussical Auditions are open to all youth - ages 7 - 22+. Telegrammers can also audition for this show (ages 4-7). (Note: This year, we will also consider younger students for the mainstage production, depending on maturity level)
Auditions will be held January 12 & 13, 2026 at 6:30 PM. Invited callbacks will be held on January 14 at 6:30 PM. Auditions will be at C.R.O.W. Center for the Performing Arts: 3120 Hwy 101 in Florence.
**Note: It is not necessary to attend both days of the initial audition.
"Telegrammer" Hopefuls (ages 4-7) should arrive promptly at 6:30 on the 12th or 13th. You will sing a short song for us first, and then be excused. Visit our FAQ page or scroll down for information on the role of "Telegrammers."
Performance Dates: April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26. TWO weekends! Sorry, no Livestreaming is available for this title.
Rehearsals Begin: Monday, January 26.
Approximate Main Cast Size: 35-40 actors. Not every person who auditions will be cast. Be prepared to "wow" us!
