Long Distance Bluegrass Band had its beginnings when mandolinist Jerry Zumwalt rescued guitarist Kirk Mlinek from a monthly acoustic music jam somewhere in Oregon. Next, Jerry introduced Kirk to his former Grassy Creek bandmate, banjoist Michael Danielle, and music started to happen. Along came double bassist Betsy Marczinkowski (formerly of Prairie Dog Backfire) and the bluegrass quartet was off and running. 

While the band’s sound revolves around traditional bluegrass, audiences have come to expect, and appreciate, forays into the progressive side of the music with grassed-up versions of songs by the likes of Cadillac Sky, Ernest Tubb, Jimmie Rodgers, and Chris Stapleton. Rest assured that there’s a little bit of something for most everyone in a Long Distance performance. Everyone in the band sings, the harmonies are tight and the instrumentals tasty. Heck, you might even end up dancing. 

Finally, why the name? Well, when the band gets together at least two people are driving nearly one hundred miles to get there! And the best part is that the travel is worth every mile. Jump on board and go the distance with Long Distance!
