Graveyard Poetry

Grimrose Manor is proud to present Graveyard Poetry, led by Poet Laureate of Florence, Alabama, Shannon Milliman. This event draws from the tradition of the Romantic-era graveyard poets—writing among the stones, names, and histories where memory lingers.

Participants will be invited to enter the sacred, reflective space of the Florence City Cemetery and listen deeply. Guided by writing prompts inspired by individual graves, we’ll craft poems in conversation with place, time, and those who came before.

Bring a notebook and pen to this free event — the gathering will end with an optional sharing of newly written work.
