Fall Fungi Foray

Feel the shift in season as we hike through the woods. Learn about the fruits of the forest floor as we walk and talk fungi. Appreciate about the mysterious world of fungi and their role in healthy ecosystems. Autumn in Alabama is prime mushroom time and we hope to spot a few species like oysters, turkey tail and Reishi.

What to expect: A gentle hike with rolling hills. Wear good shoes for walking or hiking. Cooler weather. Wear layers and a scarf.

The format will be show and tell / open conversation. Feel free to bring guidebooks with you and share your knowledge with the group. This isn’t a formal identification class, and we’re not condoning the consumption of any mushrooms.
