About the event

Ceramic Works of Stassia Fulmer & Chris Kamykowski
The Mott Community College Fine Arts Gallery will feature the ceramic works of Stassia Fulmer & Chris Kamykowski.

Pinfeather Art Studio is a collaboration of husband and wife team Chris Kamykowski and Stassia Fulmer who create a variety of functional and decorative contemporary ceramics out of their home studio in Grass Lake, MI both independently and collaboratively.

Stassia's ceramic work is rooted in her background of ink illustration, printmaking, and ceramics. She pulls inspiration from nature and the local flora & fauna, illustrating by hand each of her pieces. Stassia’s work is an exploration into different illustration techniques and how to apply them to ceramics.

Chris’ work incorporates architectural design influences, while mimicking the facets of low-resolution digital models. Chris plays with the contrast of both color and texture, while also highlighting his forms with the melt of the glaze.

Stassia studied art during high school at Grand Blanc High School & Mott Community College where she had her first experiences with clay. She then received her Bachelors of Fine Art from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI in 2012 focusing on printmaking, illustration, & book arts. After college she worked in galleries and art making facilities in sales and marketing, while also producing her own work. Stassia now works full time creating work for her and her husband’s company Pinfeather Art Studio. Stassia’s work has been exhibited at the Ann Arbor Art Center, The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, Baltimore Clayworks in Maryland, Queen City Clay in Ohio, and the San Angelo Museum of Fine Art in Texas.

Chris began pursuing art and design in his senior year at Sturgis High School in Sturgis, MI. After originally studying architecture he found his passion for sculpture and ceramics. In 2014, he graduated with a BFA in 3D Studies from Youngstown State University, focusing on mold making and slip casting. Chris has spent several years working in production ceramics settings, and is now the 3D Studio Coordinator at Eastern Michigan University. Chris’ work was exhibited during the 2023 National Council of Education for the Ceramic Arts conference followed by Youngstown State University. He has also shown at Gutman Gallery in Ann Arbor, MI, MUDFLAT Studio in Massachusetts, Savannah Clay Community in Georgia, and Companion Gallery in Humboldt, TN.

This exhibition will run February 9-27, 2026, Monday-Friday from 9am-4:30pm.

The MCC Fine Arts Gallery is located in room 128 of the Visual Arts and Design Center on the Mott Community College main campus in Flint at 1401 E. Court St. 48503.
