- **Event Description**: The Neighborhood Engagement Hub welcomes Flint residents and community members for its 2026 Open House and Community Toolshed Season Opening! The first 100 residents will receive free food from food trucks! 

This event will spotlight neighborhood resources, resident support services, and the return of one of Flint’s most practical community assets, the community toolshed! The event will allow residents, neighborhood leaders, community partners, and supporters to tour the facility, meet the NEH team and board, learn more about NEH programming, and connect with the resources the organization offers to help strengthen neighborhoods across Flint. At the center of the April 20 event is the reopening and celebration of NEH’s Community Toolshed, a practical and deeply neighborhood-centered resource that helps remove one of the most common barriers to community upkeep and blight elimination: access to equipment. The toolshed operates from April through October, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and offers Flint residents free use of outdoor landscaping, maintenance, and gardening equipment, including lawn mowers, trimmers, rototillers, and hand tools. The program also includes access to select community event equipment, such as folding tables, chairs, canopy tents, generators, lawn games, a PA system, and a popcorn machine for eligible community events. In addition to information about the toolshed, the open house will offer a broader introduction to NEH’s work and role in the community. Guests will be able to learn more about the organization’s programs and services, ask questions, and explore ways to connect with its ongoing neighborhood support efforts. 
Whether attendees are longtime neighborhood advocates, residents looking for support, or community members simply wanting to better understand what NEH offers, the organization hopes the event will serve as both a welcome and an invitation.

About NEH: 
Since its founding in 2014, the Neighborhood Engagement Hub has served as a community development organization focused on helping Flint neighborhoods build capacity, access support, and carry forward resident-led change. Today, NEH says it works with more than 30 neighborhood groups and community organizations across the city by providing neighborhood project support, printing and copy services, fiduciary grant management, Community Toolshed and mobile event kit access, and collaborative trainings and workshops with community partners. Its mission is to serve as a catalyst for positive neighborhood change by supporting neighborhoods to become safe, healthy, and whole.
