The Soggy Po Boys explore the vast musical traditions of New Orleans jazz and traditional Caribbean tunes (it’s been said that New Orleans is the northernmost city in the Caribbean), as well as Meters funk, soul, and brass band / street beat music. These talented New England musicians bring the party wherever they play.
The Po Boys formed in 2012 to shake the walls of a local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece.
There are a myriad of traditions that flow into New Orleans culture just as there are tributaries that feed the Mississippi, and the Po Boys are eager to explore what makes the music of New Orleans so special. You’ll hear the heavy influence of the New Orleans sound across the band and in the stories told by their original tunes.
All events are held outside on the town green in front of our town hall and library. Bathroom is a port a potty located to the right of the town hall down the hill. Bring your dancing shoes and or a chair or blanket to sit on. All of our events are free and family friendly. We encourage dancing, if that suits you, and most importantly enjoying the music.
In the case of rain we will be in the town hall across from the common. Refreshments are generously provided by the Fitzwilliam Community Church. Donations are welcome!
