- **Event Description**: The XVI edition of the Florence Biennale - International Exhibition of Contemporary Art and Design will be held from 23 to 31 October 2027 at the Spadolini Pavilion and the Cavaniglia Pavilion of the Fortezza da Basso in Florence.

2027 marks the 30th anniversary of the Florence Biennale. The event will bring together artists and designers from all over the world, who can dialogue with the theme chosen for the upcoming edition: BEYOND THE SENSE OF TIME. Memory, Caducity and Eternity in Contemporary Art & Design.

In the last edition in 2025, we brought together over 600 artists and designers from 84 countries, showcasing more than 1,500 works. Highlights included special appearances and exhibitions by two recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Awards: the world-renowned American filmmaker and artist Tim Burton and the Spanish architect, designer and art director Patricia Urquiola.

Each day of the Florence Biennale features a rich programme of talks, conferences, ceremonies, performances, and special initiatives. 

All the works in the exhibition compete for the assignment of the "Lorenzo il Magnifico" International Award for Art in the categories of Ceramic Art, Drawing, Calligraphy and Printmaking, Installation Art, Jewellery Art, Mixed Media, New Media Art, Painting, Performance Art, Photography, Sculpture, Textile & Fiber Art, Video Art and the "Leonardo da Vinci" International Award for Design in the categories of Architecture and Town Design, Industrial and Product Design, Fashion and Jewellery Design, Interior Design, Communication and Graphic Design, Technology and Game Design. The International Jury evaluates the works of artists and designers during the days of the exhibition and confers the awards at the Awards Ceremony (Sunday 31 October 2027).
