Platters Workshop with Nolan Drew

In this workshop, ND will share his techniques of making serving platters by using both throwing and hand-building methods. These include coil making, using slab roller, intermediate throwing skill (we will be learning how to make a big bottomless pot on the wheel) ND will demonstrate different ways for creation and discuss tips and tricks to ensure the best success for your creations. First there will be a short demo explaining different attaching times on various stages of clay. Examples will be prepared before the by ND so that the students will have ample time to have the necessary skill to take this challenge and grow your practice. Come learn a super fun skill that everyone can enjoy!

What to bring:

Clay (up to 5lbs)

Tools: fettling knife, fork, rib, sponge (if you have a preference), scoring tool, and any carving tools you might have.

Paint brush for cleaning up joints
