Candle Making Workshop

Participants will learn the basics of candle making using high-quality, non-toxic coconut soy wax and premium fragrance oils. We’ll cover wick setting, scent blending, safe melting/pouring techniques, and finishing touches. Each participant will leave with a completed hand-poured candle to take home!
About Your Instructor Rachael
Hi, my name is Rachael! I’m the owner of Ember Aromas Candle Co. here in Fernie, where I hand-pour coconut soy candles with a strong focus on creativity, quality, and sustainability. I’m a proud Fernie local! I grew up here, attended both Isabella Dicken and FSS before completing my teaching degree at the University of Calgary, and eventually made my way back home to the mountains where I'm now a teacher at Isabella Dicken. Something that really sets Ember Aromas apart is that we don’t just pour our candles, we also handcraft our own concrete candle vessels. Each one is designed to be reused and loved long after the candle has burned, allowing us to create a more sustainable, meaningful product. I also love sharing that candle making is so much more than simply “melting wax.” There’s a huge science component behind it, and I’m passionate about teaching people how candles work, how to care for them safely, and how ingredients like wax, fragrance, and even wick choice can influence air quality and overall well being.
Accessibility Note This workshop is planned to take place in our upstairs studios, which are accessed by steep stairs. If you require main-level access, please indicate this in your event registration, and we will accommodate your needs.
