My vision for this group is to share the tools I have gained that help with understanding oneself and others. We are all same same but different, ya know? And tend to fight over the differences... but if we can see and accept the unique strengths in ourselves and others, I believe there might be hope for us after all... 

Prior to the group, I will have participants share their birth dates/time/and places with me, so on the day of the group I will have each persons chart printed out for them to take home. 

This first meeting is intended to be a broad overview of chart reading. We will go over the basics-- What are your sun, moon, and rising signs? What planets are sitting in what houses? What is the theme of your life, as seen through the Nakshatra (lunar mansion) connected with your moon? 

We will also go over Dashas, or planetary cycles, that we find ourselves in throughout our lives. Each planet has a different length of time it can "become activated for" in your life, ripening karma associated with that planet and it's placement, and presenting certain opportunities and themes in our lives. It can be helpful to see that "this is just a phase." 

I subscribe hugely to a greater system that focuses on the health (versus the dis-ease) for growth and healing. While there are heavy and challenging placements, the focus here is on the light-- where is their support and brilliance in your chart? While saturns pressure might be weighing you down... what is lifting you up? Jyotish, one of the names for Vedic Astrology, literally translates to "the science of light."  

I do not seek to scare anyone with the truth, but validate challenges and suggest tools to work with different energies arising in our lives. Through struggle comes growth, and without adequate tension in a birth chart, some souls sit too comfortably and don't learn a thing. 

We learn and grow under pressure-- this is true even in the womb. If we can understand and flow with this process, we can surf the waves of life with more grace. Understand that the wave we're under is only temporary and calm seas (may) lie ahead can comforting when now feels like forever. 

***This is not a group to argue and convince people to use Vedic Astrology versus Western Astrology. I understand that people can get quite attached to their sun sign, and while it doesn't ALWAYS shift when you look at one chart versus the other, it can. Since I'm born on the 15th of February, my Sun sign is Aquarius in either system, but my other planetary placements shift houses.... So if you wanna rumble, do some research on both systems then let's talk at a different time than this.

Most people in the US are familiar with their *Sun sign* and that's that. But there are two systems of astrology used in the world-- Tropical (Western) and Sidereal (Eastern). Here's a bit more on the differences from our old friend google: 

Core Differences
Tropical Astrology: This system, commonly used in Western astrology, defines 0° Aries at the vernal equinox, marking the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The zodiac signs are divided into twelve 30° segments based on the seasonal cycle, not the current positions of the stars. As a result, tropical astrology reflects the Earth-Sun relationship and human experience on Earth, emphasizing seasonal influences on personality and life cycles 

Sidereal Astrology: Predominantly used in Vedic (Jyotish) astrology, sidereal astrology anchors 0° Aries to a fixed point among the stars, often near the star Spica or the Ashvini nakshatra. It accounts for the precession of the equinoxes, a slow backward shift of the equinoxes relative to the fixed stars, which causes the tropical and sidereal zodiacs to drift apart over centuries. Sidereal astrology aims to align zodiac signs with the actual constellations in the sky, making it more astronomically “accurate” in terms of stellar positions
