The City of Ferndale’s Parks, Recreation & Trails Advisory Board is partnering with Alder Tree Education to bring two free, hands-on educational workshops to Pioneer Pavilion on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11 in celebration of America’s 250th birthday.

These free, interactive events are designed for children and families to learn through play, exploration, puzzles, maps, and creative activities. All ages are welcome to attend.

Friday, July 10 – “Our City” Workshop

Discover how cities work through engaging, hands-on activities designed especially for preschoolers through 6th graders — though everyone is welcome to participate.

Participants will:

Build their own city using blocks and wooden trains
Construct houses and complete puzzles
Explore real maps and practice map-reading skills
Learn about community helpers and city services
Plan snow plow routes
Deliver mail, repair cars, and complete a pet license activity

This workshop encourages children to explore how communities function while using creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
