Main Beach Park, 32 N. Fletcher Ave., Fernandina Beach, United States
Join us in celebrating the annual return of the North Atlantic right whale to our coast! Each fall pregnant whales’ journey over 1000 miles to the coastal waters of the Southeast U.S. to give birth and nurse their young. With fewer than 360 whales remaining they face increasing threats from human activities.
The festival will raise awareness about one of the biggest dangers they face: vessel strikes. Right whales often swim near the surface making them vulnerable to collisions with ships. By encouraging vessel operators to slow down we aim to protect these endangered creatures.
The festival highlights efforts to protect these whales from extinction as well as ocean-themed activities and exhibits that emphasize education as well as environmentally responsible adventures and products.
