Get ready to bug out! This engaging workshop dives into the fascinating world of garden insects—both the helpers and the pests. Participants will learn how to identify common insects, understand their roles in the garden ecosystem, and discover natural ways to encourage beneficial bugs while managing unwanted ones. Through hands-on activities and up-close encounters, you’ll leave with a newfound appreciation for the tiny critters that call your garden home.
Audience Target: Adults and teens ages 10+. Ideal for anyone who is interested in getting into gardening or those who are having trouble with their current garden.
Format: Classroom Workshop
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
* Identify common beneficial and harmful insects found in home gardens.
* Describe the roles insects play in pollination, pest control, and soil health.
* Distinguish between insect life stages and how they impact plants.
* Implement eco-friendly strategies to attract helpful insects and manage pests naturally.
Fee: $17 for non-members, $5 for members.

Presenter: Stephanie Wells is an urban agriculturist who enjoys creating edible ecosystems for both people and wildlife. She works closely with communities facing food insecurities to grow healthy, sustainable food. In her spare time, Stephanie likes to volunteer her time with various community organizations that focus on resolving the food crisis that is present in some communities. She has an A.A.S in Horticulture and is currently pursuing a B.S. in Agriculture Education-Professional Service.
