He later upgraded to Amateur Extra and enjoys projects at the intersection of RF, computing, and practical communications—especially when they involve real-world problem solving, measurement, and building working systems end-to-end. Michael serves as Vice President of the Fayette County Amateur Radio Club. Outside of amateur radio, he is a PhD candidate in physics at Georgia State University, where his work focuses on light–matter interactions and spectroscopy applied to biological samples. He also enjoys teaching and hands-on technical demonstrations. Presentation Overview: Over-the-air broadcast TV is still free, high quality, and surprisingly easy to distribute around the home (and to your own devices while traveling). I’ll show how I set up an antenna + tuner feeding a TV/DVR server on a local computer, then securely stream live TV to phones, tablets, and TVs anywhere with an internet connection. We’ll cover practical hardware choices, basic signal/RF considerations, networking/VPN considerations, and do a short live demo.
