- **Event Description**: The Fayetteville Chapter of NOW will have its 17th Domestic Violence Wreath Laying Ceremony on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Lafayette Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 2301 Ramsey Street.  When entering Lafayette Memorial Park from Ramsey Street go to the right and continue past the office and up the road until you see our group gathering. 

In 1974, Beryl Mitchell was murdered in Fayetteville by her active duty military husband.  They had two young children.  In 2008, her daughter, Christine Horne returned to Fayetteville to dedicate a headstone for Beryl's grave.  At that time, some members of Fayetteville NOW (National Organization for Women) vowed to lay a wreath on her grave each year in her memory, and they have.

More people need to become aware of the signs of domestic violence. It falls upon all of us to ask our loved ones, “Are you okay?”   If you or a loved one are victims of domestic violence and are in need of assistance, call the local CARE Center at 910-677-2532 or The Hotline 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or the hotline.org
