- **Event Description**: Join us for seed collecting in the National Forest. Help restore our public lands. No experience needed. All ages welcome.About this EventJoin the Southern California Mountains Foundation (SCMF) and help restore the San Bernardino National Forest—one seed at a time!SCMF works in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service to restore areas of the forest impacted by wildfire, recreation, erosion, and other disturbances. During this volunteer event, participants will help collect native seed that can be used in future restoration projects throughout the forest.Seed collection is just one of the many ways volunteers can get involved in SCMF conservation efforts. Throughout the year, volunteers help plant native species, disperse locally collected seed, install protective barriers, remove invasive plants and trash, and restore damaged areas. This work helps protect watersheds and wildlife habitat, reduce erosion and soil compaction, and keep our public lands healthy for the future. We will meet at the Big Bear Discovery Center before heading into the field. Space is limited, and advance registration is required so we can plan for staffing, tools, and supplies.Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required for participation. Please dress appropriately for outdoor field conditions. No experience is necessary—just come ready to learn, get outside, and make a difference. We hope to see you in the field!
