For Fiona, papermaking is‘a ritualised meditative process that allows me to navigate my grief.’Papermaking 25 minHandmade paper is created by blending soaked paper scraps into pulp, adding organic materials*, spreading the mixture over a mold and deckle, draining the water, and drying the pressed sheet. This recycling process transforms paper scraps and natural elements into new, textured paper.Autocartography 25 minAutocartography is a process which maps the self. Using techniques from the surrealist art movement to make connections and meaning, the process of mark making on handmade paper will start to open up a conversation between the maker and the material.What to bring*Papermaking can be an act of memorial or reflection. Participants are invited to bring any organic material (leaves, moss, petals, soil) that holds significance for them.
