The intense palettes of their works and their formal structures resonate with the modernist aesthetic.Glass, a concrete element that evokes both fragility and refraction, recalls Philip Johnson’s famous Glass House, where the inhabitant can see everything around them, making the exterior also part of the interior. Here, glass serves as a filter, evoking the artists’ gaze. In their works, this gaze—laden with intent and questioning—disperses the world into shapes and colors.If modernism translated modern life into new languages, it is within this legacy that Graça Paz and Bruno Grilo find resonance.
