The Sounds of Ipanema | Smooth Bossa Nova & Cool Jazz

Step into the smooth, sophisticated world of 1960s cool jazz as tenor saxophonist Mark Crooks honours Stan Getz and the timeless magic of “The Girl from Ipanema.”   You will hear songs from the bossa nova of Getz/Gilberto to classic cool-jazz favourites which capture the warm tenor sound that defined an era.  

Much in demand as both leader and sideman, Mark Crooks has performed with artists ranging from Tony Bennett to Sir Simon Rattle, Lady Gaga to Dame Cleo Laine and at venues from Ronnie Scotts in London to the Lincoln Center in New York.  A member of the award-winning John Wilson Orchestra (who perform annually at the BBC Proms) Mark was the featured soloist for their TV special “A Swingin’ Christmas" and their "Gershwin In Hollywood" album recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall.  

Mark is joined by guitarist Colin Oxley who has appeared at festivals such as Montreux, North Sea, Nice and Vienne, as well as residencies in New York and San Francisco.

Doors open at 7 pm with live music running from approximately 7.45 pm – 10 pm (with a 30 minute interval). 

Tables & Seating All reservations/bookings are guaranteed a seat. Seating will be in a cabaret-style format with tables. Group bookings of 6 or more will be seated together wherever possible.
