As an organization, we don't do religious, spiritual, or supernatural things, but we don't dwell on that -- rather, we focus on Humanism and its associated values.

**We can't wait to see you!**

If you're looking for an inviting and positive community, you've come to the right place. We look forward to getting to know you if you're new and welcoming you back home if you've been before.

About the Speaker

Maria is President of LWV Oakland Area, Michigan, served on the LWVMI State Board and now participates on the LWVMI Advocacy Committee. Maria is an attorney having worked more than 30 years in the Detroit Metro Area. Maria will share information about the two proposals that will appear on the November 2026 ballot

The League of Women Voters (LWV) was founded in 1920 by leaders of the women’s suffrage movement, shortly before the 19th Amendment gave women the constitutional right to vote. Originally created to help newly enfranchised women become informed and active voters, the League grew into a nonpartisan, grassroots organization focused on educating voters and improving democracy. Over the years, it has advocated for voting rights, fair elections, voter registration, and democratic reforms, including helping support the National Voter Registration Act and creating VOTE411.org, a nonpartisan online voter-information resource. Today, the League has more than 800 state and local organizations across the country and continues to work on expanding voter access, fighting voter suppression, promoting fair redistricting, protecting elections, and providing voters with reliable election information through voter registration events, candidate forums, and VOTE411.
