Tailgate on us! Enjoy a free pork burger before September 5th football game!
The Dakota/Rice corn and soybean growers’ and the Rice county Pork Producers partner with Holden Farms for free sandwiches prior to football game.
We’re celebrating Pork month early! October is National Pork Month, but we want an early start. The Dakota/Rice county Corn and Soybean Growers and Rice county pork producers are partnering with local pork producer Holden Farms to get a jumpstart on Pork month. You can enjoy a free pork sandwich from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, September 5th, before the Faribault Falcons football team takes on county rival, the Northfield Raiders at Bruce Smith Field.
Holden Farms of Northfield is co-sponsoring this event and providing financial support. Holden Farms is a fifth generation, 135-year-old turkey and hog operation located east of Northfield.
The pork industry has significant financial impact in Minnesota, which is the nation’s second largest producer of pork. More than 18 million hogs were raised and marketed on over 3,200 farms in Minnesota in 2024, generating more than $12 billion of economic activity. Corn and soybeans have a major impact on the pork industry in Minnesota. More than 200 million bushels of corn and 800,000 tons of soybeans are used to feed the hogs each year.
Come learn more about the pork industry and enjoy a delicious pork sandwich on September 5th. For those who cannot eat pork, we will also be serving 100% Halal all beef wieners. A free will donation will be accepted with proceeds benefiting your choice of the Northfield FFA or Faribault FFA chapters.
