Never played an American Tournament before? Then let me explain
An "American Tournament" in tennis is a social mixed doubles event where players are randomly paired for each round and play as many games as possible within a set time limit. The winner is the player with the most game wins accumulated throughout the tournament.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of the typical rules:
Round-Robin Format: Players are paired at random with a new partner for each round.
Timed Rounds: Each round is typically 15-20 minutes long, allowing players to play as many games as they can in the allotted time.
No Advantage Scoring: If the score reaches deuce (40-40), the first point after deuce wins the game.
Partner Changes: After each round, winners typically move up to a higher court, while losers stay on the same court, creating new pairings.
Scoring: Players earn a point for each game they win.
Tournament Structure: There are typically a set number of rounds (e.g., 7 rounds with a break).
Winner: The player with the most points at the end of all rounds is the tournament winner.
