Learn about the practical ways fluorescence can help you find out about diseases and the balance of ecosystems, from your local forest to your own back garden. Find out about the many ways it is being used to decipher the inner workings of the human body and to revolutionise scientific research. The experience begins with a presentation exploring the science and unpacking this little-known area of the natural world. We will then head outdoors to see it in action. Finishing the evening with time for everybody to experience the magic firsthand as we hand out UV torches and see what we can discover as a group under the cover of darkness. Please come prepared with warm clothing as the pace of the walk is slow. We recommend sturdy shoes as the terrain is uneven, and wearing trousers to avoid stinging nettles. Safety glasses will be provided and must be worn throughout the walk for your protection. Please note we will not cancel the event due to rain, only if there are high winds, so please come prepared accordingly.
