- **Event Description**: Join facilitators Indigo Dawn, Ani Hopson, and Alex Savage for a ZEGG Forum for experienced Forum-goers*!

*We welcome anyone who has attended at least one ZEGG Forum.

ZEGG Forum is a powerful group process to deepen relationships and practice key skills for sustainable community: transparency, curiosity, and compassion. It takes courage to step into the middle, and caring presence to hold space in the circle-- for whatever unfolds.

When: Sat. August 22nd from 4-6:30pm ET

Where: 3549 Devon Dr, Falls Church, VA

Cost: Free

• What we'll do
We'll play fun, interactive games to help build relationships and create a field of connection. Then, we'll hold a ZEGG Forum and debrief afterwards. During Forum, the facilitators will create a safe, loving container where community members may step in front of the group and share what is going on for them. As a participant, you will have the chance to both speak your own truth and hear the truths of others. Profound shifts in group and individual consciousness can occur as we reveal or witness what was previously hidden.

Schedule:
4pm Doors Open
4:30pm Connection Games
5pm ZEGG Forum
6:30pm Informal hangout time
Leave when you feel ready, or when the facilitators/house residents tell you they're done hanging out!

What to bring:
- A reusable, sealable water bottle if you have one

 optional:
- Any medications you need
- Snacks (for you or to share!)
- Stim toys or fidgets
- Comfort objects
- Assistive devices (e.g. earplugs, sensory glasses, a cane)
- Registered service animals (please let us know if you plan to bring your registered service animal so we can alert other attendees in case of allergies!)

Food: Light snacks will be served-- feel free to bring a vegetarian snack contribution.

Accessibility: The front door is up two short sets of stairs. The Forum will be held on the main floor, which has two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a back deck. The indoor lights are soft and orange, and the main sound the house makes is a wildlife clock that plays wild animal calls at the top of each hour. If you have accessibility concerns-- mobility, sensory, or otherwise, we'd love you to reach out so we can explore ways you could attend and participate with greater ease!

Allergens: Some people in our community are sensitive to fragrances, so please don't wear perfume, cologne, or other scented products, including “natural” scents. The house is pet-free, so no worries for people with pet allergies.

[What is ZEGG Forum?]

Forum was created at ZEGG, an intentional community in Germany, and its sister communities as a way of promoting transparency and mutual understanding among community members. ZEGG members found that decision-making meetings often got derailed because of emotional conflicts and undercurrents that were not known to or understood by all. In Forum, each individual's experience could be seen and understood, leading to greater empathy and creativity in the community. Now, many residential and non-residential intentional communities have adopted Forum as a way to maintain ongoing connection, intimacy and understanding.

The goal of Forum is to reveal what is alive but not known to all. The community sits in a circle, forming a stage for one person at a time to stand and show what is true for them. Facilitators may assist the person (or presenter) to reveal themselves more deeply. Afterward, community members may offer reflections, or mirrors, on what they saw.

One of the gifts of ZEGG Forum is that it allows us a space to appreciate every perspective without taking it on as “truth.” Every voice has its own poignancy, its own wisdom, its own truth, that does not negate the wisdom and truth of other perspectives. Allowing all voices to surface and be known can lead to a profound and unexpected integration within a community. We tend to think that events leading to painful experiences and conflicts are bad, because they feel bad in the moment. However, when we open ourselves and compassionately witness what is happening for everyone, these experiences can be gateways to greater closeness, understanding, and love. When conflict emerges, whether or not we are in a formal Forum space, we can choose to listen in this way. This deep listening sustains and nurtures community life and relationships.
