Step back into the Dakota frontier and experience life on a military post in the pivotal summer of 1875, just one year before the Great Sioux War of 1876.

Join us for this immersive living history weekend as reenactors from the 6th Infantry Regimental Association bring Fort Buford to life. Stroll through the grounds, visit our reconstructed barracks, and interact with soldiers, laundresses, and civilians of the era.

This year’s encampment recreates a tense and transitional moment in American history, when Co’s E & G of the 6th Infantry returned from detached service, and new recruits arrived to bolster frontier defenses. Learn about the soldiers who escorted General Sheridan and Lt. Colonel Forsyth into the rugged Yellowstone country as tensions rose across the Plains.
