- **Event Description**: Join us for a remembrance ceremony marking the 50th Anniversary of the sinking of the Great Lakes Freighter Edmund Fitzgerald. Fairport Harbor has many connections to the ill-fated ship. One of the crew members, Edward Bindon was a popular figure in town. Ed was an athlete at Harding High School and village employee who was one of the 29 crew members on board the Fitz when lost on Lake Superior during an early winter storm. He will be remembered that night, also Fairport resident Bill Simko will talk about his time on the ship and share many never before seen pictures that he took while a crew member on board the Fitz.
