Kotoko Brass is a high-energy, one of a kind, culturally diverse band based in Boston, featuring musicians from Ghana, Antigua, Japan, and the US.
Mohammed Alidu is a celebrated singer and percussionist from Tamale, Ghana, born into the 1000-year old Bizung lineage of talking drum chiefs.
The two have joined forces to write and record a groundbreaking presentation of Dagomba music and culture.
The night begins with Kotoko Brass playing their catalog, with Alidu joining on percussion. After a short intermission Alidu takes the helm and leads the band through the new album, along with songs from Alidu’s earlier albums. Joining the artists on stage; world class Ghanaian dancers Maltiti Sadik and Saeed Kuubetesuri interpret the music into motion, while leading audience members in traditional dance.
Titi is back with her delicious West African cooking! Get there early, she always sells out!!
